Information for Out of Hours Providers and Extended Access Providers

GP SOLO claims can be completed and submitted in the new online Payments and Pensions service, via PCSE Online.

Out of hours (OoH) and Extended Access providers (including GP Federations) need to submit monthly SOLO spreadsheets to PCSE. The easiest way to submit your monthly Solo spreadsheets is via PCSE Online.

Monthly SOLO Contribution submissions

Any provider who is an NHS Pension Scheme employing authority delivering Out of Hours or extended access primary care services needs to submit monthly Solo breakdown to PCSE for all GP Pension Scheme members who work for them under a self-employed (or employed) arrangement. This includes GP Federations. GPs must not be asked to complete Locum forms to pay their Pension contributions for this work.

Providers must make a monthly payment for GP SOLO contributions to NHS England’s bank account and submit a breakdown of the contributions that make up the payment to PCSE so that the GP contribution records are updated.

Please download the monthly Solo csv template using the tile below, and complete the spreadsheet for all Solo GPs to provide details of their pension contributions. You should then upload the csv onto PCSE Online as shown in the User Guide below. Please note you must use the standard csv template for the upload to be successful.

This will allow PCSE to reconcile monthly payments and update GP Pension Scheme members’ records quickly and efficiently.

Annual GP SOLO Contribution submissions

In addition to the completion and submission of the monthly spreadsheet by providers, it is still a legal requirement for GPs to submit an annual GP SOLO form to declare their annual Solo income. This is available to download from the NHSBSA website here, where guidance is also available. Annual GP SOLO forms should be submitted to PCSE via our enquiries form.
