Claiming a CET grant in 2018

The window for submitting Continuing Education Training (CET) claims to PCSE opened on 2 July 2018 and will remain open until 1 November 2018.

Claims for CET undertaken by ophthalmic practitioners between 1 January and 31 December 2017 must be submitted to PCSE during this period.  Forms should be scanned and uploaded via the CET Claim option on our Contact Us form.

As a reminder, CET allowance payments are payable to contractors only.

A payment can be claimed by a contractor in respect of either:

  • CET he/she has undertaken personally in the year between 1 January to 31 December 2017.
  • CET undertaken in the year between 1 January to 31 December 2017 by another ophthalmic practitioner on the Ophthalmic Performers List.

The CET allowance for 2017 is £551.

To submit a CET claim, please follow these steps:

  1. Complete the 2018 CET claim form issued by the Department of Health and Social Care, in full.
  2. Please ensure you include the Ophthalmic Performer List (OPL) number on the form.
  3. Sign and date the form in the appropriate places.
  4. Upload your signed claim form via the CET Claim option on our Contact Us page by following these steps:

a) Select ‘CET Claim’ from the drop down menu

b) Complete all the mandatory fields on the online submission form. You will be asked to provide:

- Name of the performer the CET grant is being claimed for

- Name of the practice contact

- Practice email address registered with PCSE for the confirmation email to be sent to

- ODS code (also known as TP code) – if you do not know the ODS code for your practice you should contact the Exeter Helpdesk on 0300 3034 034 or E-mail: helpdesk@nhs.net

- PCT code*

- Contractor Code*

*Please note: The PCT and Contractor Codes - also referred to as the Payment System Code - can be found in the two boxes on the top right corner of your GOS submission headers e.g. 5C5 150 (please see the FAQ below for an image of where to find the Payment System Code).

d) The CET claim form comprises three pages which can either be uploaded all together as one document or you can upload one page at a time using the ‘Add Document’ button.
e) Once all the correct information has been provided, the CET claim can be submitted.
f)  A confirmation screen will confirm the submission has been successful.

Please note it is important that the form is submitted from an email that the practice/organisation has registered with PCSE Online.  This will ensure the sender receives a confirmation email, including the Case Reference Number.

If your practice is already registered on PCSE Online, the Main Contact/Super User will be able to check the named contacts and email addresses that are currently included under your practice registration and add or amend users if required.  We would encourage you to check and update accordingly.

If your practice has not registered on PCSE Online please visit our Help page.

FAQs for CET claims in 2018

Each CET claim submission received by PCSE will be assigned a case reference number.  This will be provided on the confirmation screen when the form is submitted.

It will also be sent in a follow-up email to confirm the claim form has been received by PCSE.  The email will be sent to the address provided on the online submission form. The subject of the email will include the name of the performer it relates to,

e.g.  Continuing Education and Training (CET) PERFORMER NAME CAS-12345-ABC123

The Case Reference Number should be quoted in any subsequent correspondence regarding the claim.

Once the CET claim has been processed an email will be sent to the address given on the online submission form.  It will confirm the CET grant will be paid in the next GOS payment run and the case has been closed.

The Payment System Code is the PCT Code and Contractor Code that can be found in the two boxes on the top right corner of your GOS submission headers e.g. 5C5 150

Due to restrictions on the existing Ophthalmic Payments System the CET payment will appear on the contractor’s GOS statements as Enhanced Service Value.  Details of the name of the performer that the CET grant is for will be included.

The recommended route for submitting CET claims is via the online form but if you prefer to submit by post you can send to:

Primary Care Support England
PO Box 350

If you are sending a CET claim by post please send it separately to your GOS claims to ensure it is processed promptly.

Important: Claim forms submitted to any other email or postal addresses will not be processed.

Any queries about previous CET claims from past years should be sent to: pcse.optical@nhs.net.

Please only use the CET Claim option on the online form to submit claims for 2018.
