EOY - Approved Leave

What do I need to do if I’ve been on maternity leave during the period covered by my Type 2 form?

If you’ve been on maternity leave, please select ‘Yes’ in Box F on the Personal Details tab and complete the Authorised Leave tab. You can find step-by-step guidance in the Type 2 Guide and Video.

If your maternity leave falls within the period covered by the Type 2 form and PCSE hasn’t received a breakdown of your earnings for this time, your practice will need to send us this information. This ensures we can process your form and update your pension contributions accurately.

The breakdown should include your gross pensionable earnings and the corresponding employee contributions. Employer contributions will stay the same during maternity leave.

The maternity breakdown form is available here.

I was on maternity leave for part of the financial year — should I calculate my tier rate based on my actual pay or my deemed pay?

If you’ve taken maternity, paternity, adoption, or sick leave, your tier rate will be based on your deemed pay.

You’ll only pay contributions on the pay you actually receive.

While I’m on maternity leave, will my employer still pay the 14.38% contribution based on what I would have earned?

Yes, your practice will continue to pay employer contributions based on the pay you would have received if you hadn’t been on approved leave, such as maternity, paternity, adoption, or sick leave.
